CALTABELLOTTA IS NOT A PLACE OF PASSAGE, WHEN YOU ARE THERE… YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE
We like to think that guests who choose this property have a special eye for hidden treasures and a passion for history and magic.
As soon as you arrive at this majestic ancestral home, exhaling quiet nobleness from every single stone, you’ll soon be transformed into the guise of an old proud powerful Sicilian, the kind who would boast lands dominated and of a free spirit mindful of past glories still hovering high.
Outside / Inside: From the left entrance of the house, a few steps will lead you to a mezzanine with double bed and en-suite bathroom with shower. Downstairs you will be welcomed by a modern fully equipped kitchen and a bright dining room overlooking the picturesque rooftops and the wide valley below. A cool retreat during the hot Sicilian lunchtimes.
The sober neoclassical ceilings, the antique furniture and airy atmosphere of the rooms will bewitch you. Adjoining the dining room, a peaceful XIX century games room leading to the very heart of the house, a colourful living room with ethnic furniture, satellite TV and a brick fireplace which also works as stove. From its elegant columned terrace you can view the most spectacular panorama you can imagine: brick-coloured rooftops, pointed bell towers, endless expanse of land and sea: Central Sicily and the Mediterranean coast. On a clear day you can even see Africa, and at night a striking circle of lit villages and the starry sky above will leave you breathless.
Carrying on through the house you’ll find the library, with stylish bookshelves, leather sofas, satellite TV, and a quiet parlour with 1940’s furniture. At the end of the long corridor leading to the right entrance of the house, a few steps will lead you to a second bedroom, a colourful double room with an en-suite bathroom. Returning to the opposite side of the corridor you’ll find a third bedroom with twin-beds, then a bathroom with tub, a fourth double bedroom, and a 1940’s study to use as internet corner if you wish. There is also a laundry room at the left entrance of the property.
The air is crisp here in the evening. Walking through the characteristic winding streets of Caltabellotta you’ll get a true sense of the Sicilian pride for century-old traditions, the infinite fascination of inaccessible peaks, the poetry of burning sunsets, the magic power of stones and ruins to tell ancient stories and evoke unique atmospheres. Take your time to try the delicious local products, the tasty Sicilian meats, the renowned red wine and Caltabellotta’s pride and joy: its first quality olive oil, the primary economic resource here.
There’s so much to see in Caltabellotta. The ruins of the Norman castle, the Sican Necropolis, ancient churches, characteristic streets, panoramic spots and at a short distance, the picturesque S. Anna village, S. Cono Caves, the woods on the Sican Mountains, the Sosio river area, and the Mediterranean Sea. The colourful Sciacca is a few km away with its historical charm, fish restaurants and lovely shops. Rocco Forte’s Golf Resort and its 18 holes course is also only a short drive away. Should you wish to bathe in the warm Mediterranean waters and tan a little, we recommend S. Giorgio beach, or Eraclea Minoa, with their archaeological sites and gorgeous white cliffs. Or you can drive as far as Selinunte or Agrigento and add in a cultural trip among imposing Greek Doric temples before a refreshing swim.

“The property in Caltabellotta was an incredible experience, beyond imagining. The kind and thoughtful hosts entrusted us with a family home filled with history, treasures and impeccable taste. Miranda and Dore Terrasi greeted us on arrival with a stunning array of local produce and wine. We were made to feel like honored guests and were introduced to local contacts to learn more of the history of this place. The property is exquisite; the place of Caltabellotta has a complex and mysterious past as it occupies one of the most strategic sites in the Mediterranean with vistas to Africa. It is hard to describe the feeling of living above the clouds with vast views across Sicily to the sea from a home where the attention to detail is wonderful. This is not an experience for everybody – that is true, this property is for travelers who respect history; past and current life in a mountain village and those who live here; and the trust of a fine family to care for their home. Thank you for the opportunity!”. Mr Howell – England
“I had the most amazing time whilst in Sicily and your apartment, Dimora Normanna in Caltabellotta, is truly wonderful and very comfortable as well. Attention for every single detail and its stunning location allowed me to enjoy panoramic views of the town. Caltabellotta is a place where life flows slowly so relaxing there is just so
easy. There is so much to see though, so many churches to visit and excellent fish restaurants at the close Sciacca. Thank you very much for your assistance and dedication. I will surely come back in the future”. Mr Laske – USA
